What makes a good men's wedding band
Width is the decision. A 4 mm band is unobtrusive and most people stop noticing it within a week. 6 mm is the common choice and reads as a wedding ring from across a table. 7 mm and above is a statement and needs a hand that carries it. If you have never worn a ring, go narrower than you think, because a wide band feels far wider on the finger than it looks on a screen.
Comfort fit means the inside of the band is domed rather than flat, so it rolls over the knuckle more easily and sits better on a finger that swells through the day. It also means a comfort fit ring runs slightly tighter than a flat one in the same stated size, so size up if you are between. Get the size right first time, because we do not resize. Order a free ring sizer or use the size guide, and ask us if you are caught between two sizes. For stones in a man's ring, flush and bezel settings sit level with the metal and survive manual work in a way raised prongs do not.
Frequently Asked Questions
What width should I choose?
4 mm if you have not worn a ring before or want it discreet. 6 mm is the most common. 7 mm and up if you want it noticed. Narrower is the safer mistake.
What does comfort fit mean, and does it change my size?
The inside is domed rather than flat, which makes it easier over the knuckle and more comfortable all day. It does run slightly tighter than a flat band in the same size, so size up if you are between sizes.
What happens if it does not fit?
We do not offer a resizing service, so please get the size right before you order. Use our free ring sizer and the size guide, and tell us if you are unsure and we will talk it through. If the band we deliver is a different size from the size on your order, that is our fault, not a sizing mistake, and we resize it free of charge and pay the postage both ways.
Will the stones survive manual work?
Flush and bezel set stones sit level with the metal and are the right choice if you work with your hands. Raised settings are not. Tell us what you do for a living and we will say which designs to avoid.
Platinum or gold?
Platinum is denser and feels heavier for the same shape, holds a stone securely, and develops a soft matte patina rather than staying bright. White gold stays brighter but is plated with rhodium which wears and needs redoing. Both are available.
Can we order matching bands?
Yes, and we will make them together so the finish matches. Send both sizes.
How long will it take?
Two to three weeks to make, then 17 to 19 days on free standard shipping or 7 to 10 days on paid express.
